Temporary Park Attendant- Parks (Finance)



The County of Riverside's Regional Park and Open-Space District has an opportunity for a Park Attendant who will be located in LA QUINTA . Under minimal supervision, the Park Attendant is responsible for greeting/registering park guests, sales/handling user fees, providing information on park services, rules, and regulations; and assisting with special events. The Park Attendant's duties will also include campsite grounds maintenance and restrooms will need to be monitored and cleaned. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for building and preparing a variety of reports and training a volunteer staff.

The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County. A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies.

Ideal candidates will possess experience with grounds/maintenance upkeep, kiosk operations, cash handling, strong customer service and conflict resolution skills. Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.

The initial schedule for this position will be: Friday-Tuesday 9 :00am-5:30pm. MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK EVENINGS.

Strong communication skills with customers and vendors.

• Answers inquiries and provides information on park services, rules, and regulations in person and over the phone; observes established procedures to ensure the safety and security of visitors including refusing entry to persons not conforming to regulations.

• Assigns work and explains procedures to customer; provides assistance in emergency situations.

• Ability to assist with event set-up (ex. carry tables, stack chairs, using/cleaning tablecloths, setup dance floor panels, AV equipment setup)

• Ability to c lean restrooms and replenish toilet paper and soap. Sweep, dust, strip, seal, wet mop, wax, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo rugs OPTION I

Six months of experience which involved collection of money, record keeping and dealing with the public.

OR

OPTION II Six months of experience performing clerical work directly related to parks operations.

Other Requirements:
Possession of a valid California Driver's License

Physical Environment:

The Park Attendant will visit campsites and restrooms throughout the day for cleaning, maintenance, and repairs. The majority of this position will entail working outdoors in inclement weather conditions (rain, sleet, wind and summer temperatures exceeding 115 degrees Fahrenheit). The Park Attendant may be exposed to insects, snakes, skunks, squirrels, dogs, coyotes, birds, fish and their appropriate smells and/or dander.

Knowledge Of:

Simple record keeping procedures and basic arithmetic.

Ability To:

Read, understand, and apply regulations pertaining to the use and operation of County parks; perform math computations quickly and accurately; keep accurate records according to prescribed procedures; explain regulations, policies, and procedures in a tactful and courteous manner; work independently.Application Deadline
