Vice President, Product & Segment Marketing

Job Title: Vice President of Product & Segment Marketing
Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Product and Customer Segment Marketing to lead and oversee the development and execution of comprehensive product and customer segment marketing strategies. This key leadership role is pivotal in driving the growth of the company by understanding customer needs, defining market positioning, and creating compelling messaging and product go-to-market strategies across our product portfolio and multiple customer segments.

As the Vice President of Product Marketing and Customer Segment Marketing, you will be responsible for aligning marketing initiatives with company goals, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the company's products and services resonate with targeted customer segments, thereby driving revenue and customer loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and execute the product marketing and customer segment marketing strategy in alignment with the company's business goals.
  • Lead a high-performing team of product marketers and customer segment specialists to deliver impactful go-to-market strategies and campaigns.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of marketers, ensuring continuous development and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and other departments to ensure marketing strategies align with overall company objectives.
  • Assess performance and marketing return on investment reporting to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.

Product Marketing Strategy:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive product marketing strategies for the company's portfolio of products.
  • Work closely with product management, sales, and customer success teams to identify product features, benefits, and differentiators that appeal to specific customer segments.
  • Define product positioning, messaging, and value propositions for both new and existing products.
  • Lead the go-to-market (GTM) planning and execution for new product launches, including customer and sales enablement tools, training, and competitive intelligence.

Customer Segment Marketing:

  • Develop deep insights into key customer segments and their unique needs, challenges, and behaviors.
  • Define and execute tailored marketing strategies for each segment to ensure targeted, personalized engagement.
  • Drive customer-centric product innovation and personalization by leveraging segment-specific data, insights, and feedback.
  • Lead market segmentation analysis and ensure that all customer touchpoints, communications, and campaigns are customized to specific segment needs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Sales, Product Management, and Customer Success to develop aligned messaging, sales tools, and marketing collateral that support customer acquisition and retention.
  • Work closely with digital, demand generation, and brand marketing teams to ensure cohesive messaging across all channels and touchpoints.
  • Provide sales enablement and marketing training to internal teams to ensure consistent product positioning and customer segment engagement.

Leadership & Team Building

  • Inspire and lead a high-performing, cross-functional marketing and communications team.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture that champions creativity, accountability, and customer-centric thinking.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years in strategic marketing and leadership roles within biotech, genomics, or life sciences industries.
  • Proven success in building brand equity, launching high-impact campaigns, and driving measurable business growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed, global environment.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills; comfortable influencing C-suite and external stakeholders.

The estimated base salary range for the VP, Product and Segment Marketing role based in the United States of America is: $273,400 - $410,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
