Sales Trainer Instructional Designer (Finance)

Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer & eLearning Developer will create, design, develop and deliver engaging effective learning experiences and sustainment resources that empower our sales force with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the competitive contact lens market. You will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), marketing, product, and sales leadership to translate complex product information and selling methodologies into impactful digital learning solutions.

This role reports directly to the Manager of Sales Force Development.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Instructional Design & Strategy
    • Drive the development and delivery of efficient lifetime learning journey tracking methods.
    • Analyze and identify learning approaches & modalities to best address new learning and performance gaps within the sales organization.
    • Design instructional strategies that align with adult learning principles and sales enablement goals established by the leadership team.
    • Organize and manage learning paths and curricula for new hire onboarding, product launches, and ongoing training.
    • Create and a library of resources and materials with consistent branding to support self-sufficiency for in-the-field sales reps. This includes Quick Reference Guides, FAQ documents, micro-learning videos, etc.
  • eLearning Development
    • Create interactive, visually engaging eLearning modules using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar.
    • Develop multimedia content including videos, animations, infographics, and quizzes.
    • Ensure all content is SCORM/xAPI compliant and optimized for LMS delivery.

  • Collaboration & Project Management
    • Partner with Manager and identified SMEs to gather content and validate accuracy.
    • Work with sales leadership to align training with field needs and KPIs.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
    • Develop training programs for inside & field sales personnel which could include both virtual and in-person classroom learning.
    • Work with identified SMEs & Leadership to develop off-the-shelf customizable training to support more targeted skill development.
    • Participate in periodic co-travels to better understand the needs of the learner.
    • Stays abreast of learning trends and technologies to continually bring innovation into the training strategy
    • Work cross-functionally with other areas of company to ensure the success of company's long-term, strategic plans
    • Participate in the organization, design, and deployment of deliverables for Annual Sales Conference events
  • Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
    • Implement assessment strategies to measure learning effectiveness and knowledge retention.
    • Analyze feedback and performance data to iterate and improve learning experiences.
  • Other training and development functions as assigned

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 15% domestic travel.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong portfolio showcasing eLearning modules and instructional design work.
  • Proficiency in authoring tools (e.g., Rise, Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience working with LMS platforms (e.g., Allego)
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and visual design skills.
  • Ability to understand and simplify complex content.
  • Develop a cohesive relevant curriculum by partnering with Sales organizational leaders

Demonstrated ability in:

Preferred but not required:

  • Selling skills
  • System Simulation Development
  • Contact Lens / Med Device / Pharma / Healthcare industry experience
  • Salesforce.com / CRM
  • Sales Enablement platform experience (e.g., Showpad)

Work Environment:
  • Victor, NY - professional office environment
  • Prolonged sitting in front of a computer or standing in front of a classroom
  • Up to 15% domestic travel depending on home base location - including co-travel, meetings, conferences

Experience:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in instructional design and eLearning development, preferably in a healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Critical-thinking skills
  • Concrete verbal and written communication skills

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of direct related experience (high school + 8 years or similar)

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $92,000.00 and $118,840.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
