Lead Software Engineer - Transportation/Distribution (Information Technology)

Join the Publix Transportation Systems Development Team “Where Development is a Pleasure”. Our team is growing, and we are looking for an experienced software engineer to add to our winning culture and track the record of delivering exceptional solutions to our users. This position will play a key role in interfacing enterprise teams to evaluate requirements, design solutions, and develop systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, planning, development, and problem-solving skills, and excel at communicating effectively with management, peers, technology vendors, and business customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop enterprise-grade technology solutions with a focus on system performance, cross-system interdependencies, stability, scalability, and usability.
  • Utilize modern development methodologies with a cloud-first approach, incorporating CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Mentor fellow developers on best practices for the selected development methodologies.
  • Lead and participate in application design and development meetings, employing both Agile and traditional methodologies.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for technical design, system specifications, and desired test outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned applications.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for production support.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with
    • .NET, C#, .NET Worker Services, ASP.NET Core, and background service patterns
    • Microsoft SQL Server and Entity Framework Core with expertise in designing normalized schemas, writing complex queries, and optimizing database performance
  • 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and consuming RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core and utilizing API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
  • 3+ years of experience leading large development projects
  • 3+ years of experience in building responsive web applications using ASP.NET Core (MVC, Razor Pages) and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Blazor.
  • 3+ years of experience deploying and managing applications on Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Azure SQL, and Azure Functions
  • 3+ years of experience with Git, with experience in branching, merging, and pull request workflows.
  • 3+ years of experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
  • Experience in authoring and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
  • Proficient in designing, provisioning, and managing cloud infrastructure, preferably on Microsoft Azure, utilizing Terraform modules and best practices
  • Knowledgeable in automated testing, build, and deployment strategies for .NET and containerized applications.
  • Experience with Azure and GCP cloud platforms
  • Skilled in supporting data and process governance of distribution system compliance in accordance with company policies, standards, and SOX requirements
  • Capable of writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Experienced in working within Agile/Scrum teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with Transportation, Distribution, Warehousing, or Supply Chain systems
