Overview

The Manager, Data Quality Governance, is responsible for developing, implementing, and enhancing a comprehensive, company-wide data quality & stewardship framework. This includes establishing robust processes, fostering collaboration among teams, leveraging the right tools and technology, and driving clear communication strategies. The role focuses on building and operationalizing effective data quality initiatives, ensuring measurable improvements through well-defined metrics. Serving as the primary escalation point for data quality and stewardship issues, this manager will work closely with business and functional stakeholders to enhance the accuracy, consistency, and overall value of the organization's core data assets.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive data quality and stewardship framework, including policies, standards, and best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with business and functional stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship roles, and accountability for data quality management.
  • Define and track key data quality indicators (DQIs) and ensure continuous monitoring, reporting, and improvement of data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for data quality issues, working with stakeholders to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize data quality tools, automation solutions, and technologies to enhance data validation, profiling, and cleansing.
  • Partner with IT, Data Governance, Analytics, and Business teams to align data quality initiatives with enterprise-wide data management strategies.
  • Support compliance with internal policies and external regulations by ensuring data quality processes meet industry standards and data governance requirements.
  • Educate business users and data stewards on data quality principles, best practices, and stewardship responsibilities to foster a data-driven culture.
  • Establish feedback loops and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of data quality management across the organization.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity, usability, and business value of enterprise data assets, enabling the organization to make informed, data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in data quality, data governance, data stewardship, or enterprise data management roles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing data quality frameworks, policies, and best practices in a corporate environment.
  • Hands-on experience with data quality tools (e.g., Informatica DQ, Talend, Collibra, IBM InfoSphere, Alteryx, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, data modeling, metadata management, and master data management (MDM).

Skills & Competencies:
  • Deep understanding of data quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, uniqueness, and validity).
  • Proficiency in SQL, data profiling, and data cleansing techniques to assess and improve data quality.
  • Ability to define and track key data quality metrics (DQIs) and KPIs to drive improvements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying data inconsistencies and gaps.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills to drive data quality initiatives across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to lead data governance working groups, train data stewards, and foster a data-driven culture within the organization.
