Archives Coordinator (Finance)



The Archives Coordinator is responsible for preserving, arranging, describing, and increasing access to the USF Libraries Tampa Special Collections' physical archival materials to ensure long-term access and use. Under the supervision of the Archives Librarian, this position will develop processing plans, conduct basic preservation of archival materials, arrange (process) humanities- and science-focused collections, supply descriptions and descriptive metadata or archival materials, and assess collections and finding aids for adherence to best practices and standards.

The Archives Coordinator may provide staff and researcher instruction on archival processing procedures and using archival materials. The Coordinator may also participate in outreach to the University community, with an emphasis on using archival materials for research and instruction.Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field with two years of work experience in a library. Appropriate college coursework may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in special collections or archives. Experience processing, conducting research, or teaching with physical archives or related records. Experience cataloging monographs, manuscripts, or special materials in ALMA/PRIMO. Familiarity with archival description and content standards like DACS, EAD, and ISAD(G). Familiarity with or experience using ArchivesSpace or other archival management software.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

  • Engage in archival processing activities in accordance with international standards, industry best practices, and departmental guidelines, including: reappraising collections; organizing, describing, and rehousing physical materials in various formats; assisting with provenance and rights research; creating or enhancing finding aids in ArchivesSpace.

  • In collaboration with the Archives Librarian, co-develop and implement archival processing workflows and in-house training programs for library employees conducting archival work.

  • Catalog materials in ALMA/PRIMO or provide instruction using archival materials.
  • \n
  • Participate in outreach and promotion of the department's archival collections.
