BIM / CAD Technician (Finance)



H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm seeks a BIM / CAD Technician to join our team in our Melville, NY office.

Working with BIM/CAD Managers and the BIM/CAD Specialist, assist team in creating, developing, and implementing BIM/CAD standards and systems for the H2M Core of Excellence initiative across all H2M disciplines, markets, and offices.

This position offers potential career growth for a candidate with developing technical and software-supporting skills with Architectural, Engineering, Structural, Civil, Water, Wastewater, and MEP design knowledge.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with day-to-day technical support on design projects, including design adaptation, construction documentation, modeling, and creating customized content.
  • Assist in developing and implementing company-wide BIM/CAD standards and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining BIM/CAD templates and libraries.
  • Provide BIM/CAD production support for project teams, including project model setup and preliminary discipline project work.
  • Assist design staff with software and/or file support for operational functionality.
  • Assist in creating Revit families, C3D items, or detail items in response to project needs.
  • Assist in obtaining the latest program updates and deployment measures to workstations.
  • Assist in project development to ensure compliance with the agreed-upon strategy, standards, and work processes.
  • Assist in resolving conflicts as they come up between the design and construction documents.
  • Work with a team to produce high-quality rendering and design to meet and exceed client needs.
  • Assist team in implementing BIM/CAD global initiatives.
  • Work integral to the BIM/CAD team aligned with H2M's mission, vision, and values.
  • Schedule accompanying BIM/CAD staff on the branch office visit. Anticipate visits every two months to support the advancement of Core of Excellence initiatives.
  • Work with various disciplines on project related (billable) work as needed.

Education and Qualifications

  • Associate degree in architecture, engineering, construction, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years CAD/BIM experience and/or working knowledge of Autodesk design software.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to increase BIM/CAD Autodesk program implementation to other staff.
  • Ability to work well with others, take direction, and work independently.
  • Must have the ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed and determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Willingness to learn and collaborate.

The salary range for this role is $20 - $30 / hour.
