RN Care Team Leader - Vascular Surgery IMC (Finance)



Work Schedule :

90% FTE, evening/night shift. Weekend and holiday rotation required. Hours are based off the operational needs of the department. We offer a competitive starting pay; relevant work experience will be considered. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

Pay :

  • Additional components of compensation may include:
  • Shift Differentials: $4/hour evening and $5/hour night as applicable for hours worked.
  • Weekend Differential: $4.25/hour as applicable for hours worked.
  • Overtime
  • Relocation assistance may be available for qualified applicants.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Charge Nurse (Care Team Leader) to:

  • Lead and mentor nursing staff on a 15-bed Heart and Vascular surgical progressive care unit with both general care and intermediate level patients to ensure optimum patient care, efficient operations, quality service and sound financial management.
  • Facilitate and participate in daily interprofessional rounds.
  • Continuously assess unit needs by ensuring adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts.
  • Mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills in caring for adult patients in an acuity adaptable fast paced unit.
    • Work with a variety of vascular surgical and cardiac surgical step-down patient populations; including abdominal and thoracic aneurysm repairs, both open and endovascular, carotid endarterectomies, limb saving lytic therapies, lower extremity bypasses and amputees.
  • Participate in shared governance, with a unit-based council to help support and drive quality improvement initiatives and lead practice change.
  • Work in an environment that is patient-and-family focused including daily care team visits with the entire team but most importantly the patient is an active participant in their care plan.

Education :

Preferred - Baccalaureate degree in nursing

Work Experience :

Minimum -

  • Two (2) years' experience in an inpatient unit Required
  • At least two (2) years of combined work experience and leadership experience may be considered in lieu of two (2) years' experience in an inpatient unit. Required

Preferred -
  • Three (3) years' experience in an acute care inpatient unit.
  • Relevant RN experience with department-specific patient population

Licenses and Certifications :

Minimum -

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Preferred - National certification n relevant specialty
