Siting and Land Rights Agent I (Finance)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under supervision, assists with land acquisition activities to support the identification, negotiation, and securing property rights for infrastructure and maintenance projects.
  • Supports compliance efforts by gathering information related to real estate and environmental laws, as well as local and federal regulations, for land use and siting activities.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure land-related activities align with project objectives and timelines.
  • Provides support as a point of contact for landowners, customers, community stakeholders, helping to address concerns and foster positive relationships.
  • Participates in public meetings and hearings.
  • Works with public agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Serves as a resource for colleagues by contributing to team projects and initiatives.
  • Requires strong communication and organizational skills to assist in building and maintaining effective working relationships.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree and no experience required.
    OR
  • Associate degree PLUS two years or more related experience required.
    OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent PLUS four years or more related experience required.

Field of study in Real Estate Management, Land Survey, Geography, Urban Studies, Forestry, International Right of Way - Intermediate or Senior ROW Agent, business related studies, or equivalent preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE's needs. In a hybrid work arrangement, the employer's work location will be a blend of work in-person at the Duluth MN office and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Proven verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
  • Must be willing to travel to attend stakeholder meetings or other events. Locations could be within the Company's service territory, where Company assets and/or projects are
  • located and government agency locations.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • The expected annual compensation range for this position is $56,000 - $69,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
