Summary:
\n
The Associate Director of the Florida Center for Nursing (FCN), headquartered within the University of South Florida College of Nursing (USF-CON), supports the Executive Director in advancing the mission of the FCN to address nursing workforce challenges through data-driven policy, education, and innovation. This faculty member plays a critical role in strategic program development, evaluation, and dissemination of initiatives that impact nursing education, practice, and professional development across Florida.

This role exceeds traditional academic responsibilities and requires a dynamic nurse leader with a strong background in academia, nursing professional development, fiscal oversight, and scholarly dissemination. The role includes significant travel (~50%, primarily in-state) to represent FCN at conferences, community meetings, and events.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • \n
  • Must hold, or be eligible for, licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Florida by the start date.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated success in program development, evaluation, and scholarly dissemination.
  • \n
  • Experience in academic and clinical education settings.
  • \n
  • Experience with program budgeting and fiscal oversight, including understanding of comprehensive organizational budgets.
  • \n
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • \n
  • Proficient in technology and data systems relevant to workforce analysis and program evaluation.
  • \n
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
  • \n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Executive leadership with demonstrated fiscal responsibility.
  • \n
  • MBA or a minimum of 5 years of equivalent leadership experience in health care, education, or nonprofit sectors.
  • \n
  • Experience working with state agencies, boards, or legislative stakeholders.

Program Development, Evaluation, and Budget Oversight
\n
    \n
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to design, implement, and evaluate statewide initiatives aligned with FCN's strategic goals.
  • \n
  • Lead or co-lead grant proposals, program reports, and outcome assessments.
  • \n
  • Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor program impact and workforce trends.
  • \n
  • Lead program budget development and monitoring, with the expectation of understanding the full FCN budget.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with the FCN Director of Operations to ensure fiscal accountability and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • \n
  • Develop and oversee continuing education activities for nurses.
  • \n
\n
Academic & Clinical Expertise
\n
    \n
  • Provide thought leadership in nursing education and clinical practice transformation.
  • \n
  • Serve as a liaison between academic institutions, clinical partners, and professional organizations.
  • \n
  • Support curriculum innovation and continuing education efforts for nursing professionals.
  • \n

Scholarship & Dissemination
\n
    \n
  • Produce peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and policy briefs.
  • \n
  • Represent FCN at state and national conferences and stakeholder meetings (~50% travel; majority in state 2-3 days/week).
  • \n
  • Mentor students in scholarly and professional development activities.
  • \n
\n
Leadership & Collaboration
\n
    \n
  • Work closely with the USF College of Nursing faculty and staff, FCN Board of Directors, and advisory groups.
  • \n
  • Foster partnerships with health care systems, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • \n
  • Assist in strategic planning and organizational development of FCN.
