Position Title and Summary - (basic function of the role)

The Digital Communications Intern will support employee communications under the direction of the Corporate Communications Specialist and Global Communications Director. The intern's primary responsibility will be to assist in improving the frequency and standardization of employee engagement through internal digital platforms. This role is ideal for early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience in executing corporate communications strategies through digital content production, copywriting, graphic design, user experience (UX) design, and web systems development. This internship will involve managing global digital signage, developing internal SharePoint sites, and assisting with various internal communication initiatives across our company's global locations.

Shift: Tuesday - Thursday; 9:00 - 5:00 pm; flexible

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Master PowerPoint Management - Maintain corporate master PowerPoint templates and assist employees in transitioning legacy templates while ensuring good-practice communication principles and brand consistency.
  • Global Digital Screen Content & Automation - Maintain and develop content for global digital signage, assist facilities with local content needs, and develop a cadence to improve consistent employee communication.
  • Copywriting & Graphic Design - Under the direction of the Corporate Communications Specialist, produce engaging digital content for platforms such as SharePoint Pages, SharePoint News, Viva Engage, digital signage, and print assets.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration - Under the strategy and direction of the Corporate Communications team, work with HR, departmental teams, and local facility leads to execute internal communication initiatives.
  • Web Systems Development & UX Design - Support the Corporate Communications Specialist in developing automation workflows, organizing clean data sets, creating forms, and other initiatives that make internal communications processes more efficient.

Skills and Competencies

  • Adobe Creative Suite - Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign (required).
  • Microsoft Office - Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel (required).
  • Microsoft 365 Systems - Proficiency or ability to quickly adapt to SharePoint, Viva Engage, Forms, Lists, Power Automate (required).
  • Creative Execution - Ability to apply communication design principles effectively, create clear and engaging copy, and develop visually compelling digital assets (required).
  • Web Development & UX - Strong understanding of user experience principles, web-based systems, and basic coding competency (HTML, CSS, JavaScript a plus) (preferred).

Education Requirements

  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, Web Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of university coursework preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience in digital and print graphic design.
  • Experience in web design and web development.
  • Experience in copywriting (e.g., blog writing, social media content, news articles, etc.).

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting and setup of photo/video production equipment.
