Quality Assurance Officer / Principal Resident Engineer (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis seeks a Senior Construction Principal/Resident Engineer - Municipal Utilities, with 12 or more years' experience, to join our Water Construction Management team in one of the Arcadis San Francisco Bay Area offices.

Arcadis has significantly grown its municipal water team and construction management services in Northern California over the past few years. Continuing the path of growth, this position offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our local team. The Senior Resident Engineer, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of the water and wastewater construction market along with a proven reputation within Northern California to successfully execute projects, to help build and grow our practice.

Role accountabilities:

In the Quality Assurance Officer / Principal Resident Engineer position, you will provide construction leadership throughout all project phases, managing project teams' daily activities, contracts, and QA/QC requirements while keeping clients updated on progress. You will monitor contractor performance, site safety, subcontractors, and suppliers regularly informing clients of any changes or deviations from the plan. Responsibilities include developing scopes of work and budgets, and working with Project/Program Managers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.

You will supervise and mentor junior technical staff and utilize your expertise to manage QA material testing, review technical submittals, interpret specifications, and recommend deficiency notices for non-conformances. Additionally, you will lead meetings with clients, local agencies, and the community, using your communication skills to recommend improvements to project costs, budgets, and schedules, requiring experience with Primavera or MS Project. Other duties include liaising with design staff to obtain field information for correspondence, RFIs, and shop drawing reviews. Key attributes for this role include proven excellence in client management and project delivery, strong communication and leadership skills, and proficiency with the MS Office Suite.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • 12 years' total experience, with a minimum 10 years of construction experience on water wastewater plants & facilities projects as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager.
  • Bachelors' degree in Engineering or Construction.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 12+ years of construction experience specifically related to water or wastewater facilities, with a minimum of 10 years' experience on projects as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager on a $50+ million water/wastewater project.
  • Masters' degree in Engineering, Construction or a BS in these fields and an MBA.
  • the PE, a CCM is also highly desired.
  • US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management Certification
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $142,000 - $242,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
