Primary Functions:

This position sits in the Nemours Children's Health National Office of Policy and Prevention and supports early literacy goals of the department and the health system. Reporting to the Director, National Practice and Prevention, the Awareness and Promotion Specialist, Nemours Children's Reading BrightStart! position will serve as the organization's lead to develop and expand relationships with early literacy stakeholders in Nemours service areas and nationally, with an emphasis on partnerships in Delaware and North Florida that increase sales/use of Reading BrightStart! to improve early literacy skills of children from birth to age 5.

This highly visible position will be responsible for assessing the landscape of early literacy stakeholders in Delaware and Florida. The individual will communicate with colleagues from across the Enterprise about opportunities, risks, barriers, and recommended solutions related to improving early literacy metrics for children throughout Nemours service areas. The individual will be responsible for strategizing, planning, scheduling, and managing partnerships to meet the partnership development and sales goals within Reading BrightStart! and the early literacy goals of the health system.

The position will be a trusted consultant, implementer, and integrator in assisting the organization in meeting its kindergarten readiness goals. The role will develop strategic alliances with key community and external constituency groups in alignment with Nemours priorities. The position requires frequent travel throughout the Delaware Valley and Florida for meetings and events with stakeholders as well as intermittent travel in the U.S. for conference presentations and meetings with colleagues in other service areas. The frequency of in-person meetings in Delaware and North Florida will vary and is expected to average once per month.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and Implement -Maintain relationships with local, regional and national partners. Make recommendations for the spread and scale of early literacy strategies, policies, and practices through existing or new initiatives or partnerships. Contribute substantially to NCRBS! strategic planning, priority setting, and accomplishment of stated annual goals and objectives and collaborating extensively with all other NCRBS! workgroups and others across the Nemours enterprise, for complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Provide strategic and tactical leadership to build favorable awareness and brand reputation of NCRBS!. The associate works independently and is able to develop project plans and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Leverage Expertise - Leverage subject matter knowledge specific to business/partnership development to create and manage program or project strategies and objectives that support organizational early literacy goals. Develop, execute, and assess strategies, with input from colleagues, to increase use of NCRBS! curricula, training, and family literacy website. This includes but is not limited to developing marketing campaigns and targeted communications with support from the marketing team and NCRBS! colleagues. Collaborate with other staff to implement effective strategies and practices. Contribute intellectual and technical support and make recommendations and decisions to help form the organization's strategic goals and program framework, consistent with best practices.
  • Research and Analysis - Stay current with best practices and research in the field and advise leadership team of these optional methodologies, through consulting national partners and experts, preparing proposals, and organizing meetings and materials. The associate will advise on measures to ensure that the planning and implementation processes are cost effective, timely and participatory as possible and are consistent with the goals of the National Office related to spread and scale. Establish and deploy ongoing customer satisfaction monitoring for entities that are using NCRBS! curricula and sharing information with the team as a mechanism for continuous improvement and future sales development. The associate will also inform and disseminate information and ensure appropriate communication throughout the organization as necessary.
  • Support Senior Leadership - Develop, maintain and build key contacts that will support and enhance National Office early literacy strategies. Manage relationships with national stakeholders - public and private partners - to garner information and facilitate progress in the field.
  • Update Leadership Team - Provide information and analysis on the strategic progress of initiatives, landscape of the field and the external environment for consideration by the Vice President, the Board, Senior Management and staff, through formal presentations, institutional policy analysis, studies, reports and verbal briefings.
  • Advance Outreach Efforts - Serves as a lead for National Office strategic early literacy partnerships and relationship-building strategies. Acts as one of the lead communicators and message developers for our strategies to communities, states, national organizations, and coalitions.

  • Job Requirements:

    A Bachelor's degree in a business or education-related field is required; Master's degree preferred.
