Assistant/Associate Professor, Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care - Internal Medicine, McGovern Medical School (Finance)



McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston , a leading academic health center located in the Texas Medical Center, is seeking applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Division of Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care within the Department of Internal Medicine .

UTHealth Houston offers both inpatient and outpatient services at Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center and TIRR Memorial Hermann . The division currently comprises three clinical providers: one MD and two NPs, with additional support from others holding active privileges. The division is involved in teaching at all levels of the medical school, providing a highly interactive environment with significant growth potential

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivering exceptional clinical care to patients, including diagnosing and managing complex cases, providing individualized treatment plans, and monitoring patient progress. This also involves acting as a sponsoring physician to Nurse Practitioners for both inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, leading by example, and fostering a learning environment that encourages growth and development in the field.
  • Participating in research activities, which include designing and conducting studies, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at conferences.
  • Participating in committees and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and other administrative duties.

Qualifications:

  • Appointment for at least two years for the Associate Professor rank.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent.
  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
  • American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine certification or eligibility statement.
  • Board certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine is preferred.
  • Strong clinical background in hyperbaric medicine and wound care
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care and academic advancement.

Additional Information:
