Your Mission

As an Associate Technical Lighter at Infinity Ward, you will contribute to the visual fidelity and performance of our games by bridging the gap between lighting artistry and technology. In this role, you'll collaborate with lighting artists, technical artists, and rendering engineers to build and support lighting solutions that push visual boundaries while maintaining runtime efficiency. You'll be hands-on in developing and refining shaders, tools, and workflows that empower the team to deliver stunning and performant visuals.

You'll have the opportunity to impact the look and feel of one of the industry's most iconic franchises by solving complex lighting and rendering challenges in a AAA game environment. In your first year, success means shipping high-quality lighting content, demonstrating proficiency with our engine and tools, and contributing to the evolution of our lighting pipeline.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Assist with tool and pipeline development to improve lighting workflows
  • Work with engineers and technical artists to develop scalable lighting solutions that meet artistic and technical goals
  • Support the development and integration of physically-based lighting systems for real-time environments
  • Debug and resolve technical issues related to lighting, rendering, and materials
  • Test lighting setups across multiple hardware platforms to ensure stability and consistency
  • Collaborate with lighting artists to troubleshoot lighting issues and optimize content for performance and visual fidelity

Player Profile

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, or a related field-or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of mathematics, especially linear algebra and geometry
  • Basic understanding of physics as it relates to lighting and rendering
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with C/C++
  • Knowledge of real-time rendering principles and physically-based rendering (PBR) workflows
  • Experience lighting scenes in Unity or Unreal Engine
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Extra Points:

  • Experience developing custom shaders (HLSL/GLSL)
  • Familiarity with modern rendering pipelines and performance optimization techniques
  • Background in photography or cinematography principles
  • Coursework or project experience in Computer Graphics, Linear Algebra, or Computer Vision
  • Experience working with proprietary game engines

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $24.04 - $44.47 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
