The Payroll Specialist performs a variety of accounting and administrative duties to support the payroll department. This position is responsible for entering employee changes, setting up voluntary deductions, auditing payroll reports, processing the hourly/weekly payroll, and ensuring accurate tax withholdings. The Payroll Specialist investigates and resolves payroll issues in a timely manner, providing exceptional customer service and upholding the company's vision of working as “One Professional Team.” This role works closely with service clerks, department managers, and Human Resources to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with federal and state regulations, and a smooth payroll process for all employees.

Pay Range:  $16.84 - $23.62 per hour
Pay range is dependent upon education & experience. 

Essential Functions:

  • Completes set-up of new-hire employees in payroll system.
  • Modify and maintains employee records.
  • Inputs and maintains employee data, including time records, banking details, and personal information.
  • Prioritizes tasks and manages time to ensure compliance with required deadlines.
  • Prepares and generates employee hours report for payroll import.
  • Processes weekly payroll for hourly employees.
  • Tracks paid time off (PTO) and sick days to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Processes Accounts Receivables (AR) payments and submits garnishment details to UKG for payroll processing.
  • Ensures proper delivery of employee paychecks.
  • Prepares Labor Distribution Report.
  • Provides timely support to employees and managers regarding hourly payroll discrepancies and questions.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Accurately tracks, records, and maintains data to ensure integrity and compliance.
  • Demonstrates strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Manages customer inquiries and follows up as designated.
  • Responds to phone inquiries as needed.
  • Demonstrates high integrity and maintains strict confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 + years administrative experience with high levels of confidentiality, detail, and organization.
  • 3+ years of customer service experience.

Physical Demands & Competencies:

  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
  • Use of Hands for Typing
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing but may require occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Typing proficiency (40 words a minute)
  • Ability to multi-task at a high pace
  • Time Management
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Access
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Work Environment:

  • Noise: Moderate
  • Indoors
