Water/Wastewater Operations & Maintenance Technician (Finance)

What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

The Operations & Maintenance Technician will participate in the inspection and documentation of water and wastewater facilities for new developments. You will assist with utility locates. You will assist in the operations, maintenance, repairs, and customer service of the water distribution system and wastewater collection system.

Schedule:

- Day shift typically 7:00am - 5:30 pm (4-10 work week) (Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri) Weekends off. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.

- Maybe required to participate in Distribution/Collection on call rotation

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing blueprints to determine where construction projects will take place
  • Using magnetic, radar and electrical equipment to locate lines
  • Utilizing GPS or surveying equipment to pinpoint coordinates of lines
  • Performing calculations to arrive at the depth of lines
  • Researching the history of utility in the areas
  • Documenting any irregularities
  • Providing customer support for contractors and homeowners
  • Using the Groveland Manual of Standards verify and enforce proper parts and equipment are used
  • Assist with pressure testing, Right of Way inspections, Hydrant Flow testing, New Installation inspections, and Final Inspection's
  • Work with contractors and vendors to uphold standards and update or improve standards
  • Create and maintain records of inspections
  • Preventative & Corrective Maintenance on lift stations and their assets (generators/auxiliary pumps) including inspections.
  • Fix & repair leaks to water, reclaim, and force mains as they arise.
  • Flushes hydrants, maintenance, exercises valves, and perform pressure tests of fire hydrants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Positive attitude and work ethic
  • High school graduate or equivalent. A mechanical/technical/vocational school background or experience is a plus
  • Florida Class 3 Distribution License or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • NASSCO (National Association of Sewer Service Companies) certification, or the ability to obtain within the first 6 months.
  • The ability to perform manual labor. Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of wastewater collection systems.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment
