Construction Safety Specialist - High Speed Rail (Finance)

Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking experienced Construction Safety Specialist professionals to support the California High-Speed Rail (CAHSR) project, the first high-speed rail system in the United States. This transformative infrastructure initiative is reshaping transportation and mobility across California. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will help ensure a culture of safety, security, and regulatory compliance on one of the most ambitious public works projects in the nation. We are looking for professionals who not only bring strong technical skills but also embody our values of integrity, quality, performance, and accountability.

Must be able to work onsite in Selma, CA.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Serve as part of a dedicated safety team overseeing Design-Build construction packages across multiple CHSR segments.
  • Conduct routine Safety & Security field audits to monitor contractor compliance and safe work practices. Document findings using digital reporting systems.
  • Assist in the review and tracking of Design-Builder safety and security-related submittals.
  • Prepare high-level reports evaluating contractor performance, identifying trends, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Support development and implementation of project-specific safety management plans for Arcadis and client teams.
  • Lead safety meetings, briefings, and training sessions for consultant and field personnel.
  • Respond to field incidents and support incident command activities as needed.
  • Conduct and document independent investigations of safety-related incidents and evaluate contractor-led investigations for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with FTA Safety & Security Oversight requirements and support audit readiness.
  • Participate in project meetings with contractors, CHSR Authority representatives, and regulatory agencies.
  • Additional duties may be assigned in response to evolving project needs.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience, ideally on large-scale rail, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects.
  • Certification such as CHST required; ASP, CSP, or a relevant degree in safety preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification required; OSHA 500 Trainer certification preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting complex design-build environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in data entry and safety management systems.
  • Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, or irregular hours as project conditions require.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
