Pre-Press Supervisor (Manufacturing)



Job Name: Pre-Press Supervisor

Classification: Full time / Exempt
Job Summary:
This role is resposible for supporting print quality assurance on the manufacturing floor. This role ensures that all print files are prepared accurately and efficiently, and that final printed materials meet the highest quality standards. They will also be responsible for managing staffing, doing team members reviews and day to day operations of the department.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership
o Train and mentor pre-press staff on best practices, software tools and quality standards
o Communicate effectively with design, production, and customer service teams to ensure smooth project execution.
o Assist in scheduling and prioritizing jobs to meet production deadlines.
o Order all materials, ink, and paper for printers.
o Adhere to and promote all company safety policies and procedures. Employees must wear all personal protective equipment while working in the plant.
o Maintain proper backup in the department.
o Performs other duties as required.
Pre-Press Operations
o Supervise the daily workflow of the pre-press team, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of print-ready files.
o Review and troubleshoot incoming artwork for compliance with print specifications.
o Oversee proofing, color correction, trapping, imposition, and plate output processes.
o Maintain pre-press equipment and software, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
o [SW1] Provide artwork and details for purchasing of embossing plates.
Print Quality
o Collaborate with Pre-Print to troubleshoot and correct print related quality defects.
o Identify and resolve print-related issues, escalating to management when necessary.
o Collaborate with the team during fingerprinting for the offset & flexo machines.
o Collaborate with Operations Manager to maintain the profile sheet following the fingerprinting of equipment.
o Support implementation of print quality standards and continuous improvement initiates.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Clear and effective communication
· Organized and orderly in work processes
Education and Experience:
· Associate's degree in graphics arts, Printing Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 5+ years of experience in a pre-press or print production environment, previous leadership a plus.
· Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, RIP software, and color management systems.
· Familiarity with offset, digital and flexographic printing processes
· Experience with automated pre-press workflows and print MIS systems.
· Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.




Physical Requirements:
· Typical office work environment; sitting, utilizing computers, presentations. Daily exposure to the plant environment; walking near equipment with moving mechanical parts.

· The employee is regularly Stand; Walk; Talk; using hands to finger dexterity. Occasionally reaches, stoops, kneels, crouches.

· Frequently lifts to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 25 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision; Distance vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception; Ability to adjust focus.
