VP, Employer Strategy and Chief Operating Officer, Cigna Healthcare U.S. (Finance)



As a member of the Cigna Healthcare (CHC) U.S. Senior Leadership team, this role will report directly to the President of Cigna Healthcare U.S. This leader will be responsible for the US Employer strategy of curating a multi-year growth plan for the US business and ensuring alignment of investments to the plan,the development of multi-year operating plans to achieve the plan, and oversight of the management process that governs execution against near-and long-term priorities. Additionally, this leader will oversee Allegiance, Cigna Healthcare's wholly-owned Third Party Administrator.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a critical business partner and advisor to the President of CHC U.S., working in close partnership with the CHC U.S. Senior Leadership team and key matrix partners to drive execution against business goals.
  • Own the development of the US Employer strategy and the strategic planning process for the CHC U.S. business; develop and execute a multi-year operating roadmap with specific actions to achieve growth, revenue, and earnings goals for the business.
  • Drive annual portfolio planning, prioritization, and execution process for CHC U.S., ensuring the prioritization and alignment of portfolio investments to the business strategy.
  • Design and implement management processes for CHC U.S. that support strategic goals and operational efficiency; responsible for ongoing implementation and adherence, ensuring connectivity of process and decision making to strategic areas of focus across the organization in partnership with the CHC U.S. Senior Leadership team.
  • Provides oversight of Allegiance, Cigna's wholly owned Third Party Administrator (TPA) that delivers first-in-class, versatile benefits through proactive cost management strategies, trend management, technological efficiencies, and strong provider relationships.
  • Act as a connector between CHC U.S. and The Cigna Group's other businesses to ensure business challenges are prioritized, addressed and escalated appropriately, provide strategic guidance and counsel on organizational imperatives, and ensure business unit-specific and enterprise strategies are prioritized, preserved and upheld.
  • Engage with multiple cross-functional partners to solve complex problems and drive business success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of related experience required in a healthcare environment; prior experience as a strategy lead and/or strategic chief of staff for a business unit preferred; consulting experience preferred; advanced degree desirable.
  • Demonstrated strategic agility and vision, the ability to anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan.
  • Strong execution orientation and capability to transform ideas and actions into business plans and processes for an executive level audience.
  • Enterprise thinker with proven ability to influence across a matrixed internal environment and with external partners.
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; high level of business acumen, including the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; allocates resources and manages operating expenses to maximize P&L while managing risk.
  • Demonstrated resilience, empathy, strong listening skills and the ability to work through challenging business situations in a highly collaborative way to drive the right business outcomes; strong self-awareness and curiosity.
  • Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people and cross-functional teams; ability to empower leaders and leverage talent to align to business priorities and strategy.
  • Strong persuasion skills and effective communicator; ability to create and communicate a compelling vision internally and externally.
  • Enjoys working hard in a fast paced, dynamic environment, with a strong comfort for ambiguity.
