Human Services Program Specialist (Finance)



Faculty and staff from LAUNCH and the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling programs within the Department of Child and Family Studies, were recently awarded a $9.9 million federal grant through the US Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration. The purpose of the project, titled Delivering Innovative Vocational Education through Virtual Reality Technology (DIVE-VRT), is to develop, implement, refine, evaluate, and disseminate, for easy adoption, a model program for transition youth and adults with lifelong and acquired disabilities to facilitate competitive, integrated employment (CIE) in skilled trades. Our project falls under the topic area of Innovative Applications of Advanced Technology to Support Youth/Adults with Disabilities Leading to CIE. Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are integral to the project model, adoptability/scalability, and sustainability. A secondary aim of the project is to create an accessible, user-friendly website that contains project information, results, training, and resources to support DIVE-VRT participants and stakeholders, and to host a DIVE-VRT model replication process that utilizes both human and AI technology for site monitoring/ moderation, data collection, training, technical assistance, and support. Project activities will take place in the Tampa Bay area.

Child & Family Studies (CFS) is one of seven departments and schools within the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS) at the University of South Florida (USF). Organized into three research divisions and four academic programs that work synergistically, CFS currently has approximately 275 faculty and staff members. During FY24, CFS is managing a portfolio of over 65 federal and non-federal contracts and grants totaling $76 million. Our research divisions include the Florida Center for Inclusive Communities (FCIC), Child and Family Behavioral Health (CFBH), and the Rightpath Research and Innovation Center. CFS's four academic programs are Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (CABH), Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (CRMHC), and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Six graduate certificates and one undergraduate certificate are also offered.

CFS efforts are consistent with the CBCS mission of combining knowledge gained through the behavioral sciences with knowledge gained from the community. CFS faculty, staff, and students, who are well immersed in the local community as well as state and national efforts, are deeply connected to the college's focus of Creating Healthy Communities. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Direct experience delivering services to individuals disabilities; experience instructing adult learners and monitoring student progress to promote program success. Postsecondary education in relevant field is preferred.
