Scheduler–Natural Gas (Finance)



JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Purpose: Manage pipeline nominations, volumetric balances and other related activities. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, highly motivated individual with desire to contribute knowledge, ideas and continued learningMinimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • One plus years of Natural Gas scheduling or relevant experience.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the natural gas pipeline industry's scheduling processes.
  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of the natural gas industry, with a comprehensive understanding of the commercial aspects of Tallgrass' business.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
  • Take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Organize and prioritize daily work.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Grasp and execute Gas Scheduling responsibilities.
  • High level of concentration.
  • Remain focused and exercise good judgment under highly stressful situations.
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets; position will be filled depending on qualifications, experience and skill sets of the successful candidate.

Working Conditions:
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Required availability (currently Day, Evening, Weekend, including Holidays) to provide gas scheduling coverage 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
    • Shift assignment, will rotate based on group need.
  • Required to work On-Call duty and non-traditional hours as needed.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
Supervisory Responsibility:

None, although this position should result in the development of the skills necessary to move into a supervisory role.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Commercial experience
  • Pipeline operations and procedure experience.
  • Proficient in other interstate pipelines' services, operations and scheduling processes.
  • Working relationships with external scheduling personnel and customers, with an understanding of the business needs of both and the ability to extract value from those relationships.
  • Working knowledge of NAESB Standards and Guidelines as it relates to Nominations, Scheduling & Confirmations.

Compensation: $87,300 - $103,500Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling Process - Must be proficient in all aspects of the scheduling process for natural gas pipelines including nominations, scheduling, trade confirmations and allocations
    • Accurately complete cycle nominations in an efficient and timely manner.
    • Develop working relationships with counterparties that include an understanding of their business objectives.
    • Perform as a strategic liaison in helping develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, pipelines, utilities, and suppliers
    • Understand contractual rights and types of services as defined by the tariffs and apply those concepts to the scheduling process.
    • Ensure positions are accurately recorded in trade management systems
    • Monitor and advise on pipeline capacity release opportunities
    • Communicate market information with trading and identify arbitrage and trade opportunities
  • Position Skills
    • Strong skills in problem recognition, troubleshooting and resolution capability
    • Analyze, evaluate and understand all impacts of potential solutions, being able to provide multiple alternatives with sound recommendations.
    • Recognize business opportunities and understand how to turn them into revenue opportunities.
    • Strong understanding of market dynamics and the impacts on scheduling.
    • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of tariffs, counterparty contracts.
  • Team Support
    • Accurately, effectively and appropriately represent the group internally & externally, with sound judgment being required.
    • Effective team member who maintains a positive attitude on a consistent basis, promotes a positive attitude within the group and readily volunteers to take on additional tasks.

    • Successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines efficiently and accurately.
    • Must show initiative and the ability to progress in knowledge and capability for all scheduling functions.
    • Contribute to the team in an effective and positive manner.
