GIS Specialist I (Finance)
The most competitive candidates will have working experience in elections, as well as knowledge of ArcPro, Java Script, Python, and SQL. Experience with Workforce and data collection experience is preferred.
At this time, the position has the opportunity for a hybrid telework schedule based on business need, however, job expectations, at times, may require in person interaction. Telework may change at any time and you will be expected to report to the office. The incumbent will be required to work in the office full time during elections due to the volume of work.
PLEASE NOTE: Incumbents must be available to work weekends and holidays, including mandatory overtime based on departmental needs.

The GIS Specialist I is the first professional level classification in the GIS Specialist series and reports to a Supervising GIS Specialist. Incumbents are expected to perform basic and routine duties where the majority of the duties can be learned in a brief period of time, are clearly defined, and have established guidelines which require minimal interpretation. The GIS Specialist I is distinguished from the GIS Specialist II in that the latter class performs the full scope of assignments and works more independently. Advancement to the next level is obtained by competitive selection through an open recruitment.

The Riverside County Department of Registrar of Voters ensures the electoral process will be conducted professionally, consistently demonstrating neutrality and non-partisan decision-making, based upon a thorough knowledge of and compliance with all election laws by administering them timely, responsively and with integrity on behalf of those we serve.• Update GIS data layers; research and compile data from record maps, land grants, and deeds for survey monument histories, boundary locations, subdivisions, right of way, street names, easements, and facility locations.
• Prepare various graphic maps, diagrams, exhibits, and displays; develop simple macros and applications utilizing GIS software to perform assigned work.
• Operate and maintain various GIS related hardware (e.g., plotters, scanners, digitizer, UNIX, Windows NT, or DOS based workstations). OPTION I
Education: None required.
Experience: One year as a GIS Specialist Trainee with Riverside County.
OPTION II
Education: None required.
Experience: Two years of sub-professional or professional GIS experience. (Completion of GIS, automated mapping, land surveying, geography, cartography, or computer science related coursework from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to one year of the required experience on the basis of 30 semester or 45 quarter units equaling one year of experience.)
ALL OPTIONS
Knowledge of: Mathematics, including the elementary principles of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics as applied to sub-professional engineering and GIS related work.
Ability to: Learn the techniques and practices involved in assigned GIS work; perform mathematical computations; keep clear and accurate notes; do simple drafting; understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others. Open to All Applicants
