Biostatistician - School of Public Health (Finance)

We are hiring immediately for a Biostatistician to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Houston, TX. In this position you will support work to expand population health research and strategically address health disparaties. The ideal candidate should have experience in data analysis of large datasets (e.g., raster data, GIS data) and observational studies are preferred. R/Python experience is required. Previous experience with data dashboard development (e.g., R Shiny) is also encouraged.

Position Summary:

Provides statistical support for research using large administrative datasets among other various data sources.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborates with investigators to determine study design, contribute to protocol development, and write statistical analysis plans.
  • Support data management and database maintenance for operational and research projects or efforts.
  • Develops systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for monitoring the quality of different datasets.
  • Develop programming code to analyze data using statistical analysis software.
  • Perform advanced statistical models including but not limited to linear regression models, generalized linear regression models, trend analyses and/or spatial/temporal analysis.
  • Develop and present findings resulting from statistical models and analyses, including summary tables, graphs and charts, for routing report or scientific reporting in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Perform literature review and support writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
  • Present results to appropriate institutional committees and groups.
  • Assist in supervising graduate student assistants when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Demonstrates proficiency with statistical methods and applications in clinical research.
  • Experience in data analysis of large administrative datasets (claims, registries, EMR) and observational studies.
    SAS experienced preferred.

Minimum Education:
  • Master's degree in related health science. PhD preferred.

Minimum Experience:
  • Two years of statistician experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
