CT Technologist - Catscan Unit (Per Diem) (Finance)



The County of Riverside's Computed Tomography (CT) Unit at Riverside University Health Systems - Medical Center is seeking Per Diem CT Technologists for night shifts in Moreno Valley.

This role involves performing high-quality CT procedures, ensuring diagnostic accuracy, and providing expertise to physicians on additional or modified studies. Responsibilities include explaining exams to patients with care, administering prescribed medications, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring patient comfort during transfers and positioning. The role also requires calibrating and operating equipment efficiently, conducting daily quality control checks, and evaluating images to ensure optimal diagnostic quality.

The most competitive candidates will have 1 year of hospital CT experience.

Per Diem Rate (Fixed rate, non-negotiable):
$68.6072 per hour

Schedule for Per Diem Positions:
12hrs shifts - 7:00pm -7:30am Monday through Friday, including rotating weekends and holidays required

Meet the Team! Riverside University Health System Website•Perform CT procedures as ordered achieving a high level of quality and accurately critique images to determine if they are of diagnostic quality and adjust factors if an image needs to be repeated; offer expertise to physician regarding appropriateness of additional/modified studies.
•Explain all studies to patients prior to the exam in a caring manner; provide resources to patients and family members about the CT exam and refer them, if appropriate, to a physician.
•Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
•Provide protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards; ensure the safety and physical comfort of the patient; conduct daily quality control measures to monitor machine performance.
•Calibrate and operate equipment to ensure that the scan is correctly and diagnostically executed in minimal time.
•Safely transfer patients to and from carts, beds, and wheelchairs; position patients to ensure patient comfort and modesty.
•Evaluate images on video display screen for diagnostic quality and presence of artifacts; evaluate videotapes and computer-generated information for technical quality; take corrective action as indicated to ensure image quality.Education: Completion of an AMA-approved Diagnostic Radiologic Technology training program.

Experience: One year of hospital CT experience preferred.

Licenses: Current California Radiologic Technologist License, Fluoroscopy Permit, ARRT Advanced-level certification in Radiography and CT, Venipuncture certification, and BLS Certification by AHA.

Physical requirements:
The physical demands for a CT Technologist at Riverside County's Riverside University Health System (RUHS) involve safely handling and positioning patients, prolonged standing, and operating and moving heavy equipment. The requirements include frequent physical exertion and stamina to manage daily tasks, particularly in a fast-paced environment such as a Level I Trauma Center.

Physical strength and stamina

  • Moving and positioning patients: The ability to safely and frequently transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, and CT tables is required.
  • Lifting: Lifting objects up to 50 pounds is occasionally required, with some roles possibly requiring lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance. Pushing and pulling stretchers, wheelchairs, and mobile radiographic equipment are also necessary.
  • Standing and walking: Long periods of standing and walking are required throughout the shift.
  • Reaching, bending, and stooping: Daily tasks include bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to position patients and manipulate equipment.
