As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Children's Media is responsible for developing, producing, and supervising GBH multi-media productions for children and families. Children's Media is committed to creating and delivering the highest quality content on television that engages children and enriches their lives with new learning experiences while providing valuable resources for their parents, caregivers, and families.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Editor is responsible for editing 25 3-5 minute shorts for America's Awesome Kids. In addition to these 25, the editor will do 13, 3-minute versions for broadcast, and 12, vertical versions for social media.

RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Edit shorts for America's Awesome Kids

  • Attend pre-production meetings to: help develop the most effective and efficient process leading into post-production, to inform technology needs, and to proactively anticipate and address workflow, logistical and technical issues.

  • Work with production team to come up with graphic look of shorts.

  • Work with production team to come up with music/sound feel for shorts.

  • Set up and lead remote review sessions with Executive Producer and designated staff.

  • Provide social media manager with promotional clips as requested.

  • Execute locked cut so it is prepped and ready for The Outpost to do the mix, color correction and all deliverables.

  • Coordinate workflow, logistics and delivery with Line Producer for  Captioning and delivery.

SKILL SET

  • Advanced knowledge of Avid Media Composer.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of video, audio, and graphic file formats.

  • Proven ability to creatively and technically address nuanced audio and visual challenges. 

  • Required to work on a GBH-based edit system from GBH, or remotely.

  • Exhibit strong attention to detail including continuity, score accuracy, and sensitivity to the balance between the exuberance and vulnerability of youth and media that exists in perpetuity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required. Must have a minimum of ten years of industry experience, including a minimum of five years of offline editing experience. Must be able to work effectively as a contributing member of a highly collaborative and inclusive team.
