Quality Assurance Inspector (Transportation)



Lynden Air Cargo is looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Inspector to support our commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for overseeing all phases of the Continuing Analysis and Surveillance (CAS) Program, ensuring alignment with the intent of FAR Part 121.373(a). This role requires a strong understanding of quality systems, auditing practices, and aviation maintenance standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs all assigned work in accordance with established policies and procedures as governed by Lynden Air Cargo's Employee Handbook, LAC GMM and applicable CFR's. 
  • Evaluates reliability data generated from unit removals and their causes, making recommendations for appropriate maintenance actions, design changes, etc. that may reflect in improved operational reliability. 
  • Coordinates with vendors to increase reliability of components. 
  • Reviews and audits Aircraft Flight and Maintenance Log Form entries for accuracy, completeness, proper reference and valid signature(s). Assigns discrepancies appropriate ATA codes for Technical Records data input into the Trax database for analysis of the information necessary to create the monthly CAS report. 
  • Publishes the required monthly CAS Reports in accordance with the approved CAS program. 
  • Monitors and records trend data. 
  • Determines that the results achieved in the overhaul and repair of aircraft and components meet the requirements of the LAC GMM, Manufacturer's Maintenance Manuals, applicable CFR's, applicable manufacturing specifications, or LAC MEA specifications. 
  • Performs Maintenance Program, vendor, fuel facility and station audits when requried. 
  • Evaluates Airworthiness Directives for interpretation of new incoming ADs.  Coordinates with Aircraft Records Specialists to ensure accurate compliance status and data entry of next due time for recurring ADs. 
  • Performs incoming parts receiving inspections. 
  • Accomplishes other duties that may be assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager and if authorized, assumes the responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with all other Lynden Air Cargo departments and divisions. 
  • Must have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Lockheed L-382 maintenance experience preferred; Rolls-Royce / Allison 501 Engine maintenance / operating experience preferred. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, reliability and statistical analysis.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings  

Current US Driver License 

Current US Passport 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Working knowledge of airline reliability / CAS programs is desirable.  

Airline auditing skills and experience considered a plus. 

Basic MS Office skill required.   

TRAX skills desirable. 

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights or holidays and to be away from home for extended periods of time.  

Must be available to travel to domestic and international locations without restrictions, including entrance onto foreign military bases.   

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of radar exposure and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
