Sales Director, Supplemental Health G&E - Cigna Healthcare - Remote (Finance)



Role Summary

The Supplemental Health G&E National Sales Director (NSD) will be responsible for driving new business sales for Supplemental Health products within the Government and Education sectors in National Accounts (employers with 3,000+ eligible). This role involves developing and executing strategic sales plans, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of Government and Education clients.

Key areas of expertise include:

  • Product solutions: Accidental Injury (AI), Critical Illness (CI), and Hospital Care (HC) products, including corresponding pricing and UW strategies
  • Enrollment solutions: Internal capabilities and external options
  • Administrative solutions: Billing and claim processes

Job Responsibilities

The NSD role is responsible for proactive and consultative outreach designed to increase the institutional knowledge of Cigna Supplemental Health Solutions in the large case segment for Government & Education clients. The NSD partners with internal colleagues in distribution, marketing, product, compliance, underwriting, and other areas to deliver compelling and valuable solutions to present to our clients and broker partners. The NSD is also responsible for relationship management with external partners, including brokers and consultants (Supplemental Health specialists as well as core consulting teams) and enrollment firms.

More specifically, the NSD role will:

  • Drive Distribution Strategy. The NSD will develop and execute a strategy to grow Accidental Injury (AI), Critical Illness (CI), and Hospital Care (HC) product sales within the Government & Education sectors in National Accounts. The strategy will focus on G&E clients over 3000 lives and take into consideration broker relationships, growth strategies, competitive intel, local trends, and core product strategies.The NSD must be comfortable presenting Cigna's offering, value proposition, and sources of differentiation to multiple audiences to elevate our position in the market and drive pipeline and sales activity. Attending finalist meetings, negotiating with underwriting, and conducting seminars will also be a part of this strategy, as will product specific sales reports and forecasts.
  • Partner with Cigna Healthcare Team. The NSD will work closely with our partners in Cigna Healthcare to uncover cross-sell opportunities within our Medical and Dental book of business and prospective clients that are entirely new Cigna, in addition to standalone prospects. The NSD will be responsible for client and broker education on Cigna's offering and the expansion of this vertical strategy to increase market penetration within G&E.
  • Collaboration with matrix partners. The NSD will be a resource liaison for matrix partners to improve the competitiveness of our offering and drive meaningful innovation for our clients and customers in the G&E sectors. The NSD will participate in internal meetings to articulate distribution needs and key areas of focus specific to G&E National Accounts with partners in product, operations, compliance, etc. The NSD will also provide specific market feedback to underwriting, pricing, and enrollment support to better understand market conditions and customer needs. This partnership will facilitate a best practices approach where distribution is well connected to each matrix partner to support our strategy within the G&E space.
  • Goal Attainment: The NSD will be held accountable for their assigned Supplemental Health sales goal.

Incentive Compensation

The NSD role is eligible for incentive compensation. Specific details will be addressed in an annual compensation plan. Components may differ year to year to include any or all of the following:

  • Achievement of sales goals
  • Meeting internal expectations
  • Effective territory management
  • Executing market level strategies
  • Meaningful collaboration with matrix partners

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience desired
  • Industry experience required
  • History of consistently delivering business results
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment
  • Must balance high-priority, long-term projects with short-term, immediate deadlines
  • Ability to foster collaboration, value others perspectives and gain support and buy-in for organizational proposals
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, executive presence
  • Proven ability to lead in a heavily matrixed environment
  • Experience working with large national accounts and/or government procurement processes preferred
  • Familiarity with the latest trends and innovations in Supplemental Health
