Senior Data Analyst (Finance)



Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Operational Finance department. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington D.C. with a hybrid work model.

Reporting to a Lead Data Consultant, the Senior Data Analyst will act as a vital team member for the data analytic projects related to healthcare quality measures. You will provide analytical and consulting support to MAPMG leadership in making strategic decisions by analyzing, manipulating, tracking, internally managing and reporting data. You will also work with multiple data systems to extract and analyze information, prepare comprehensive analyses, and present comprehensive operational and financial reports with written summaries to organizational leadership.

You can expect to:

  • Perform prescriptive analysis for problem-solving to facilitate decision making by extracting, cleaning, summarizing, tabulating, and formatting data from Epic EMR databases and clinical data systems using SQL, SAS, and Tableau
  • Lead complex data analytics projects focused on healthcare quality measures, including Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set (HEDIS)
  • Develop complex clinical reports analyzing utilization, performance, and efficiency regarding patient care in specific service areas using SAS, SQL, Excel pivots, and Tableau Desktop/Server
  • Automate analytical reports for KP medical group in the Mid-Atlantic region using SAS PROCs, SAS MACROS, and Oracle SQL queries to improve efficiency and accommodate new requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as medical directors, physicians, and other clients to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Address and resolve issues with existing data structures and reporting processes; innovate on current methodologies and analytics through proof of concept projects

What is required:
  • Master's degree in data analytics, data science, or related field is required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of data analytics experience is required; Experience with healthcare data analytics is highly preferred
  • Experience with Oracle SQL, Tableau, SAS, and Excel is required. Experience building interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI or Tableau preferred
  • Experience working with large databases or data warehouses, including analytical manipulation and interpretation, is required
  • Experience with Databricks for scalable data processing and healthcare quality reporting is a plus
  • Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate and SAS Advanced Programmer certifications are highly preferred
  • Experience with analytical manipulation and interpretation of multiple large databases or data warehouses is required
  • Ability to interpret analytic data in a business context
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to commute to the Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. office on an as-needed basis
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $79,370.16 to $99,212.70, depending on circumstances including an applicant's skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.
