Role Summary:
The Technical Proposal Specialist is responsible for working with Cooper's technical sales and application engineering teams to create high-quality, professional proposals for major equipment sales and leasing. The role will be responsible for front-end engineering, design and estimation of refurbished compressor packages.
The key product focus will be reciprocating compressor packages with a primary focus on reconfiguration/repackaging of used equipment. The other main area of focus will be coordinating 3rd party compressor packagers to bid on end user projects for both new and used equipment. Understanding reciprocating compressor package applications and design configuration is essential for success in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Proposal Specialist will be responsible for the following:
- Overall ownership for creating technical commercial proposals and other associated technical documentation
- Perform front end engineering on compressor package revamping projects, evaluating potential units for refurbishment and identifying any major modifications needed
- Coordinate between the sales, marketing and engineering teams to produce professional content on tight deadlines
- Generate innovative ideas for content creation
- Coordinate with vendors and sub-suppliers for estimation and project development
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a degree in engineering preferred (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial).
- 5-7 years of experience in copywriting, translating or technical writing complex engineered proposals or 5+ years project engineering in related machine integration or process engineering field.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, and Sharepoint Skills
- Good understanding of gas thermodynamics and process system equipment function a plus
- Ability to read and develop/markup preliminary P&ID diagrams used for developing costing models.
- Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, French or Russian a plus
- Product specific knowledge of reciprocating engines and compressors is a plus
