Sr. IT Business Analyst (Finance)

Job Summary

As part of our Digital Transformation portfolio, which includes SAP S/4HANA, upstream business applications, digital solutions using disruptive technologies, and enterprise integrations you will play a key role in enabling operational efficiency, data consistency, and revenue optimization.

We are seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Senior IT Business Analyst who can bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions. In this role, you will:

  • Analyze and improve business processes.
  • Recommend process and system enhancements leveraging your upstream oil & gas knowledge.
  • Translate requirements into solution designs aligned with our existing portfolio (including SAP S/4HANA) or new software implementations.
  • Ensure smooth delivery in collaboration with our partner ecosystem and successful transition to support teams.

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of finance and operations domain expertise, SAP configuration skills, and change management experience. This position is based in our Houston Corporate office, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two (2) days per week.

Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead assigned projects as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) from initiation to completion, owning deliverables, scope, and timelines
  • Evaluate solution options and select appropriate system integrators in collaboration with internal teams and partners
  • Set and manage clear user expectations on timelines, roles, and responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end implementation, ensuring readiness, documentation, and training are complete
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to capture lessons learned and identify further improvements
Change Management & Business Engagement
  • Identify and engage the right IT and business stakeholders early in the process
  • Perform change impact assessments and gather stakeholder feedback
  • Develop and execute change management strategies, including communications, training materials, and readiness activities (e.g., Teams content, videos, job aids, presentations)
  • Define target audiences and release schedules for change deliverables
  • Monitor and report adoption metrics, adjusting strategies based on feedback
  • Champion strong business engagement to enhance service delivery

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in upstream oil and gas industry required
  • 5 or more years of experience with building applications, integration and automation is preferred
  • Strong in finance and familiarity with Operations
  • Configuration experience with SAP S/4 HANA is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI and Power Point
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
