Team Lead - 3rd shift (Manufacturing)

The Production Team Leader provides support and leadership for the 3rd shift/team and facilitates efficient overall shift operations. This position provides leadership and direction to hourly team members in single or multi-shift departments to meet customer demand. The Production Team Leader assists the Production Supervisor in driving strategies for improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost through consistent application of policies, procedures, and existing practices, and by practicing lean/manufacturing concepts and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe work environment by ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed, promptly addressing safety hazards, and engaging in the continuous improvement of safety.
  • Ensure quality requirements are met throughout the production process.
  • Facilitate efficient production of product through effective coordination of information, material, tooling, gauging, equipment, people, etc.
  • Problem solve and implement corrective actions for general manufacturing issues that develop during the shift.
  • Maintain a strong team and effective communication between associates, shifts and plant leaders.
  • Ensure team capability and flexibility through training and operational support.
  • Coordinate machine repair and preventive maintenance with maintenance technicians.
  • Maintain associate schedules, track attendance, scheduling vacations, and support weekly review of timecards.
  • Provide input to applicable Supervisors/Managers for performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through lean practices such as inventory reduction, lead time reduction, cost of manufacturing, etc.
  • Ensure associates are engaged and are participating in continuous improvement efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Systemic-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Functional PC skills (MS Office including Excel, databases)
  • Prior manufacturing management experience in a team environment
  • Lead Manufacturing experience or certification
  • Talent management and motivational skills
  • Production or material planning experience
  • Communication skills (verbal & written)
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing, machining, assembly, and CNC operation/programming, grinding, honing, lean, etc. experience preferred
  • 5+ years of workplace leadership, prior supervisory, or formal leadership experience preferred
  • Previous Lovejoy experience preferred

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data ("CTD") and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR). Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
