R&D Engineer Scientist II - Materials Characterization (Finance)

LOCATION: Des Plaines, IL

DOMESTIC RELOCATION SUPPORT PROVIDED: Must reside 50+ miles from the site location to be eligible for relocation support.

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000-$110,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.YOU MUST HAVE:
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics from an accredited institution.
• 3+ years of experience with analytical instrumentation, including gas chromatography (GC), two-dimensional GC (GCxGC), and mass spectrometry.
• Proficient in data analysis and interpretation of GCxGC and mass spectrometry results.

WE VALUE:
• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or another related field
• A deep understanding of gas chromatography principles as well as experience and mechanical skills for the use, repair, and calibration of two-dimensional gas chromatographs and LECO HRT instrumentation.
• Research experience with instrumental analytical chemistry procedures, including quantitative analysis.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point) and the ability to quickly learn to use a variety of software
• Ability to design and run experiments and conduct applied research.
• Hands on experience running and fixing gas chromatography instrumentation
• Rapid Problem Solver/TroubleshootingKEY RESPONSIBITIES:
• Develop and optimize multi-dimensional GCxGC mass spectrometry techniques for cutting-edge solutions
• Collect and interpret mass spectrometry data to further understanding of new process mechanisms
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive project plans
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot problems with analytical equipment and related systems.
• Develop a general knowledge of UOP processes and sample stream characteristics
• Analyze samples from tech service and pilot plants in collaboration with pilot plant technicians and researchers.
• Be accountable for working in compliance with all HS&E safety requirements and procedures.About Us
