Physician Nurse - Radiation Oncology (Healthcare)

Our team is looking for a caring detail-oriented nurse to work with one of our Radiation Oncologists. Come be an integral part of the patient care team providing support to patients on their journey through radiation treatments.

The physician nurse works under the general direction of the physician or provider assisting with the overall care of the patients. Practice under the professional boundaries of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing and Highlands policies.

Job Duties / Responsibilities:
Direct comprehensive communication with patients initiated from time of new patient consult.Demonstrate strong clinical skills with physical exams, patient assessments, ability to obtain pertinent history and patient information, and clearly communicate the findings to the physician or provider.Able to compile a complete accurate note in Onco EMR with collaboration of physician or provider and learn ARIA to find treatment information. Content of note includes diagnosis, staging, chief complaint, history and physical, performance status, impression, and plan.Assists the physician or provider as directed with EMR entry of accurate orders, including, and not limited to lab, imaging, simulations, outside referrals, etc.Has the ability to make independent nursing judgments, including triaging and resolving patient issues and concerns such as symptom management, while collaborating with physician or providers, as needed.Will have extensive contact with patients and families and will collaborate with the physician and otherhealthcare members to carry out the patients treatment plan.Provides new patient education and training, ensures completion of appropriate documentation, and issues supportive care medications.Will assist with procedures such as stereotactic radiosurgery or HDRs.Review medical records for new patients and assist with acquisition of any pertinent records from the appropriate facility.Ensure billing is completed through the EMR. Enter appropriate diagnostic codes per physician guidance.Has a good understanding of oncology diagnoses, radiation therapy, radiation side effects, and is able to instruct/educate patients and families in these areas.Will establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, internal/external medical staff, and the public. Communicate with team members in an appropriate and professional manner.Required to attentively respond to clinic staff and patient care needs.Assist with the physician or providers schedule as necessary. Provide scheduling communication to physician schedulers and other members of the healthcare team as necessary.Act with skill and professionalism under stress or in emergency situations.May be asked to assist the organization or management with community outreach and education.Adheres to physician and clinic standards, policies, and procedures, while staying a productive financial steward.Actively attend necessary meetings as instructed, or at a minimum reads notes/minutes to stay informed.
