Forklift Technician (Full-Time) (Transportation)
JOB FUNCTION:
A Forklift Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial trucks and other Fareway equipment while upholding a safe, efficient, and productive level of work. This position will report to the Cart Shop Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct thorough inspections of industrial trucks and assigned equipmentUse diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical problems, then repair or replace malfunctioning partsEnsure timely completion of maintenance tasksEnsure equipment operates safely and efficientlyStay up to date on new tools, equipment, and techniquesAssist the Cart Shop Manager in maintaining inventoryEffectively and accurately use the CMMS system for record keeping and scheduling.Bring any questions or concerns to the Cart Shop ManagerEnsure all work is performed safely and in accordance with safety regulationsOther duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A strong understanding of general maintenance techniques is essentialAn understanding of industrial truck operation, components, and repair techniques is requiredProficiency in using various tools and equipment for repairs, including power tools, hand tools, and specialized machineryProficiency in using diagnostic tools and interpreting test results to identify and troubleshoot problemsBasic computer skillsStrong problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to multi-task
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D.Completion of a mechanic / maintenance program preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Cart Shop Technicians work on, under, or in industrial trucks for 8+ hours a dayComputer keyboard work sitting as requiredOccasional walking, bending, crawling, and climbingOften perform lifting, twisting, pushing, and pulling activities
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, industrial trucks, oils, gases, and fumesOccasional exposure to extreme cold and hot temperaturesHeated shop and officeOccasional moderate to loud cart shop noise
