Director, Facilities and Mailing Services (Finance)



The Director of Facilities and Mailing Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for the University's facilities and mailing operations, serving as the primary liaison with SSC Services for Education, which manages day-to-day facilities services. This role ensures service excellence by monitoring SSC's performance, enforcing service standards, and driving continuous improvement. Responsibilities include managing operational budgets, supervising University staff who support SSC operations, leading emergency response efforts, and supporting campus growth through capital planning and collaboration. The director also oversees Mailing Services and Central Receiving, ensuring efficient operations and regulatory compliance, while regularly reporting service performance to university leadership and recommending improvements.Education Level:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities, Management, Architecture, Building Construction or related field.
  • Seven (7) years of related experience
  • Five (5) years of management experience
  • Experience leading a team, project, program, or function

  • Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Facilities, Architecture, Building Construction or an appropriate area of specialization
  • Experience in the development and implementation of construction projects, management of physical plant operations and budget oversight
  • Experience in Facilities Planning and Management on a college campus

  • Education & Experience Requirements: In accordance with Florida Senate Bill 1310, candidates may substitute direct work experience for postsecondary education as follows:
    • Associate degree: 2 years of experience
    • Bachelor's Degree: 4 years
    • Master's Degree: 6 years
    • Professional Degree: 7 years
    • Doctoral Degree: 9 years

    • Serve as the lead point of contact for all facilities-related services and contracted SSC operations.
    • Develop and implement strategic goals, service standards, and KPIs to ensure effective delivery and compliance.
    • Monitor contract performance and resolve operational challenges; ensure alignment with University standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
    • Manage operational budgets, track expenses, and support long-term financial planning.
    • Collaborate with internal departments and SSC to address feedback, enhance service delivery, and plan for campus growth.
    • Supervise USF staff supporting SSC operations, coordinate HR and employee relations matters.
    • Lead emergency and incident response related to campus facilities.
    • Provide leadership on capital improvement projects and master planning initiatives, act as a liaison with the city.
    • Oversee Mailing Services and Central Receiving functions, ensuring efficiency and regulatory compliance.
    • Report service performance to leadership and recommend improvements.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
