Cast Molding Technician – (12 Hour Nights (D Team)) (Finance)
Job Summary:
Within established guidelines, performs mold base and insert changes for molding operations. Monitors process set up using various metrology systems. Makes changes as necessary to ensure product is within established specifications. Responsible for processes critical to the quality of the product and the impact quality can have on the end user. Experienced level position allowing the employee to become familiar with the advanced, quality critical stages of manufacturing contact lenses.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
1.Adjust tooling and sustain cast molding operations while monitoring product yield using statistical process control and advanced metrology equipment.
2.Possess good knowledge of the use and operation of metrology and inspection equipment to obtain results of process and product performance in order to maintain them.
3.Help maintain manufacturing equipment in operational conditions to meet and sustain established KPI's.
4.Use current procedures to document process changes or tests.
5.Perform adjustment or tests, which may include but not limited to molds, "tooling" and equipment according to established procedures and document in writing as necessary.
6.Assist, if required, on corrective and preventive maintenance according to requirements.
7.Notify supervisor of any equipment failure or process performance event, and assist on corrective action.
8.Participate in validation activities (assist in Installation Quality (IQ)/Operation Quality (OQ)/Performance Quality (PQ) execution), improvement projects and procedural revisions.
9.Use simple hand tools to perform adjustment operations
10.Promote communication between supervisor, production team and other personnel in order to achieve desired goals.
11.As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.
12.Performs other duties as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Exhibits good communication skills - verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language.
• Sound foundation in mathematical and mechanical principles
• Can work well in a team environment
• Has the ability to work through complex technical issues
• Good understanding of and compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), regulatory requirements, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's).
• Basic Knowledge of mechanical systems (pneumatic, electronic, hydraulic) preferred
• Required to read and understand SOP's. Requires training within the scope of an approved SOP.
• Follows appropriate safety and equipment maintenance procedures.
• Demonstrates qualities which show an interest and competency level for future advancement.
• Requires full understanding of Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, cGMP's, and the consequences of not following them.

Experience:
• Minimum of one-year experience as a molding technician OR Comparable experience with automated manufacturing equipment OR Demonstrated experience in the following areas while manufacturing contact lenses on automated equipment: Successful execution of production schedules to meet customer demands with minimal supervision; adherence to safety protocols; implementation of corrective actions after consulting with engineering maintenance; and basic troubleshooting skills.
Education:
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associate Degree in Industrial Mechanics and/or Electro-mechanic, or equivalent experience with an automated and injection molding processes preferred.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $23.00 and $26.00 and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
