The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) at the University of Houston invites exceptional candidates to join our mission as a postdoctoral associate supporting the CLASS Honors Program. CLASS Honors serves undergraduate students across the humanities, social sciences, and health sciences, fostering an interdisciplinary community committed to scholarly exploration and socially engaged education. This is a new position that involves developing, implementing, and assessing co-curricular and extra-curricular learning opportunities for Honors students. This position offers the opportunity to mentor high-achieving students in their academic and professional development.

Primary Responsibilities
The postdoctoral associate will serve as the primary coordinator for program management, community-building and belonging as well as student success initiatives and providing academic advising to support student achievement and engagement. This front-facing position requires direct interaction with current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and alumni while coordinating events and executing co-curricular, and extra-curricular programming for Honors students. The role encompasses managing communications strategies and social media content to enhance program visibility, supervising the CLASS Honors Commons and classroom spaces to ensure optimal learning environments, and providing leadership and guidance to student support staff.

The position also involves maintaining comprehensive student engagement metrics and analytics, contributing to abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operational manuals, and other institutional documentation. The postdoctoral associate will monitor and assess the effectiveness of programming initiatives, providing regular operational feedback to the Director. This position requires availability for evening and weekend events as needed to support the program's offerings.

Position Details
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible appointment for two years with an anticipated start date of January 5, 2026. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of the CLASS Honors Program and will be based in Houston, Texas, United States.

Preferred Qualifications
Applicants must have completed a PhD in the humanities, social sciences, education or related interdisciplinary fields prior to the position start date and demonstrate a strong commitment to academic administration, student success programming, and program evaluation. The ideal candidate must be able to work proactively and independently while managing multiple competing projects, deadlines, and deliverables. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with strong mentoring capabilities are essential, as is an interest in working across liberal arts and social science disciplines with students from diverse academic backgrounds.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in program management, community-building and belonging, academic advising and proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and background in program evaluation and assessment. Candidates with a demonstrated publication record, previous involvement in professional development or teaching-related projects, and prior program evaluation experience will receive additional consideration.
