Mammography Technologist Trainee (Finance)



We have a wonderful opportunity for a current Radiology Technologist with a strong interest in women's health to train into Mammography Technologist! This position is designed to prepare the candidate for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Mammography Certification through a structured, hands-on training program that fulfills ARRT and MQSA requirements.

Schedule: Generally Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete a recognized mammography training program (e.g., MTMI or equivalent). Tuition reimbursement may be available for internal candidates.
  • Participate in in-house didactic and clinical education following completion of the online/web program.
  • Successfully complete all ARRT Mammography certification requirements within 60 days of starting training, including:
    • 40 hours of documented mammography-specific training (including 8 hours each in digital and tomosynthesis).
    • A minimum of 100 supervised mammographic exams (25 direct supervision; 75 indirect with trainer review).
    • Observational or participatory experience in at least four interventional/special procedures (e.g., biopsies, breast ultrasound, MRI, localizations).
  • Perform quality control (QC) tasks, including daily and periodic testing (e.g., phantom imaging, SNR/CNR). Must complete each QC test at least once under guidance.
  • Log all clinical and QC experience into the ARRT online portal as required.
  • Work closely with designated training technologists to verify exam logs and receive constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and attend brief observational sessions (2-4 hours total) to gain insight into interpretation and workflow.
  • Participate in a reduced patient load training schedule to ensure proper image acquisition techniques and reduce callbacks.
  • Prepare for and schedule the ARRT Mammography Certification Exam following completion of training requirements.
  • Work under direct supervision only until ARRT (M) credential is officially listed on the ARRT website.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong interest in women's health and mammographic imaging.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and observational skills.
  • Willingness to commit to a full-time training schedule and complete all required tasks on time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R) required.
  • Current WA State Radiology Technologist license.
  • Eligible for ARRT mammography registry.
  • Prior experience in a clinical radiology setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with mammography equipment and digital imaging systems preferred.

Pay Range:
$35.00 - $52.51

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
