Salesforce Administrator, Advancement (Information Technology)



The University of Massachusetts Foundation is seeking a Salesforce Administrator to support the future of fundraising and alumni engagement across all five University of Massachusetts campuses. In this high-impact, mission-driven role, you'll administer and optimize the Salesforce Education Cloud and related technologies to empower frontline fundraisers, elevate donor stewardship, and strengthen alumni relationships.

As the Salesforce Administrator, Advancement, you'll support the future of fundraising and alumni engagement. In this critical role, you'll administer the Salesforce Education Cloud org and other solutions that empower frontline fundraisers, enhance donor stewardship, and strengthen alumni connections.

Leveraging your deep knowledge of Salesforce you'll
• Build dynamic solutions in Salesforce Education Could and related systems
• Support a diverse population of about 400 users across all University of Massachusetts campuses
• Collaborate with the Product Owner to identify impactful and valuable enhancements
• Maintain and improve user and internal documentation and our knowledge base

You'll be the person people contact for all things Salesforce, and you'll be key in ensuring that University of Massachusetts advancement teams have a system that exceeds their needs and evolve in ways that they can't imagine.

System Administration & Support
• Serve as the primary administrator for Salesforce Education Cloud and Marketing Cloud
• Manage user roles, permissions, profiles, and security settings for Salesforce and Marketing Cloud
• Govern sandbox environments and coordinate releases to production
• Maintain user documentation, internal knowledge bases, and system standards

Platform Configuration & Optimization
• Design and implement Salesforce solutions to support prospecting, fundraising, research, and gift processing
• Build automation using Salesforce a variety of workflow tools such as flow
• Demonstrated experience and/or curiosity about ethical use of AI technologies including generative AI, predictive AI, and agentic AI systems.
• Ability to evaluate, integrate, and manage AI tools to enhance operational efficiency
• Develop reports, dashboards, and metrics for strategic decision-making
• Assist with data updates, deduplication, and record merging
• Support testing and guide users through User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

Collaboration, Training, Support & Change Enablement
• Partner with the Director of CRM Strategy and Solutions, Director of Data Strategy, Product Owner, and developers to enhance system usability and overall data hygiene
• Lead user training, onboarding, and support across five campuses
• Translate business needs into technical requirements for seamless cross-functional collaboration
• Assist with change management activities to ensure adoption
• Stay current with Salesforce releases and recommend enhancements
• Actively engage in Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Refinement, Reviews, Retrospectives)

Qualifications
• 3+ years of Salesforce administration experience (Education Cloud or NPSP preferred)
• Salesforce Administrator Certification (ADM-201)
• High proficiency with flows, reports, dashboards, and user management
• Experience supporting 400+ users in a multi-team or multi-campus environment
Additional Qualifications and Skills
• Experience in higher education, nonprofit fundraising, or alumni relations
• Background working in agile teams and environments
• Experience managing users and security in Marketing Cloud and other platforms
• Familiarity with DemandTools, Data Loader, GitHub, and Gearset
• Additional Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform App Builder, Business Analyst, Education Cloud)

Working Conditions

Additional support outside of regularly scheduled hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holiday breaks, may occasionally be required
Must be available by phone during business hours, and occasionally off-hours
This is a hybrid work environment and being in-person and onsite is essential for job success
Onsite location is Newton, MA at the Mt. Ida UMass Amherst location
Travel to all 5 campuses may be required on an ad-hoc basis
