Health and Services Wellness Director (Healthcare)



Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction for the Health and Wellness Department, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to meet resident needs.
  • Implement, and maintain policies and procedures; ensure compliance with state and federal regulations specific to senior living and memory care.
  • Promote resident safety, wellness, and quality of life through oversight of care delivery and staff practices.
  • Develop and conduct in-service training, education, and competency evaluations for clinical staff.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, and retain qualified nursing staff, fostering a supportive and professional team environment.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy services, including safe medication handling and disposal of expired/discontinued medications.
  • Serve as liaison between physicians, families, residents, and community leadership to support resident care and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure holistic, person-centered resident care.
  • Participate in budgeting, staffing, quality assurance, utilization review, and state survey readiness.
  • Monitor and disseminate changes in senior living regulations and clinical best practices to staff.
  • Lead care planning processes and ensure timely completion of resident assessments and documentation.
  • Provide performance evaluations, mentorship, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Uphold confidentiality of staff and residents at all times.
  • Provide direct nursing care as needed.
  • Travel, as necessary, for resident assessment/initial evaluation
  • Continuous evaluations of resident care plans

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises all care staff
  • Provides mentorship, coaching, and guidance to ensure staff success and professional growth.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum 5 years' nursing experience required; senior care, assisted living, or memory care leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in staff development, training, and mentorship required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong clinical knowledge in geriatric and dementia care.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to train, educate, and mentor staff at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills with residents, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems (PointClickCare and WorkDay preferred).
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply nursing regulations and guidelines.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current state licensure as an LPN or RN (required).
  • CPR/First Aid certification (preferred or required per state).
  • Ongoing continuing education and compliance with state requirements.

Physical Demands
  • Must occasionally lift/move up to 50-75 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, talking, and hearing.
  • Regular use of computers, phones, and office equipment.

Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily in a healthcare facility setting with moderate noise levels.
