Responsibilities
The RN Manager of the Respiratory & Vent Unit supports the Director of Nursing in delivering efficient and effective clinical operations while achieving positive resident outcomes and ensuring patient, family, and staff satisfaction.

Lead, guide, and manage the daily clinical operations of the Respiratory & Vent Unit, ensuring adherence to facility policies, clinical standards, and state/federal regulations.

Oversee specialized care for residents requiring ventilator management, respiratory therapy, and complex medical support.

Mentor, coach, and support nursing and CNA staff to promote professional growth, strong clinical practice, and team collaboration.

Facilitate the implementation of care delivery processes, ensuring individualized resident care plans are followed and updated as needed.

Monitor infection control and PPE compliance with heightened focus on respiratory protocols.

Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to ensure appropriate staffing levels, maintaining safe coverage while minimizing overtime and agency use.

Act as the primary liaison between nursing, respiratory therapy, physicians, and other interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless coordination of care.

Participate in performance improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and audits to enhance unit quality and outcomes.

Participate in the weekend on-call rotation to provide leadership coverage and support, ensuring continuity of care across all shifts.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college, or university; BSN preferred.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.

Minimum 35 years of clinical nursing experience in long-term care, acute care, or respiratory/ventilator units; prior supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse clinical team.

Strong knowledge of ventilator management, respiratory care protocols, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
