Senior Interest Rate Flow Manager (Finance)

The Senior Interest Rate Flow Manager is responsible for

  • Manages the bank's exposure in various interest flow agreement portfolios.
  • Communicates frequently with banking and financial management and brokers to set rates.
  • Makes market quotes for interest flow agreement products, managing the interest risk associated with these products.
  • Provides expertise regarding the usage of interest flow agreement and construction of off-balance-sheet hedges.
  • Reviews daily status of interest rate futures, options, and swap markets to anticipate rate moves or client needs and hedges exposure when desirable.
  • Develops strategies which use various interest flow agreement instruments.
  • Interacts with operations, accounting, and systems to coordinate development and maintenance of appropriate systems.
  • Provides pricing logic to cover market risks suggesting new product ideas.
  • Develops information sources and contacts for facilitating profitable deals.
  • Prepares and reports to senior management on standard and non-standard activity regarding instruments, portfolio, and specific transactions.

The role requires the following knowledge and skills:

  • 7-10 years financial market experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of swaps, futures, and options and the securities market, usually acquired through advanced formal training, to hedge interest rate exposure.
  • In-depth knowledge of economics, usually acquired through advanced formal education, to analyze the conditions and impact on the markets.
  • Knowledge of accounting regulatory requirement and system capabilities, usually acquired through advanced formal education, to develop and maintain systems.
  • Strong analytical skills to anticipate rates

Salary Range:
$99,600 - 169,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
